Elk jaar vragen we onze partner hoe het project is gegaan en welke lessen de partner heeft geleerd. Je vindt hier het bijbehorende rapport.

1.    CONTEXT AND SUMMARY
1.1    The original plan of the project
The original plan was the construction of two classrooms, but being a newly created Educational Unit (school), there is no basic infrastructure, so we have jointly decided with the Mayor of El Torno the construction of bathrooms for boys and girls, also a bathroom for teachers.

1.2    Implementation of the project
The implementation of the project from the initial phase has had the help of the Mayor of El Torno and little by little the residents of the community began to be part of the project. Part of our work as coordinator has been to work with the community so that they have a sense of belonging and responsibility with the project, now the community is an active part of this project. It is the first time that Formando Vidas participates in the beginning of a new educational unit, it is also a learning process because we have a lot of work with the community, helping them to organize, strengthening the existing leadership in the community and empowering the neighbours for the making decisions regarding education and a better standard of living for the children of the community, we are making great progress with this community.

2.    CONSTRUCTION
2.1    Buildings worked on
Challenge fulfilled !! First time we have an unlimited project, we learned together how to work with people with different abilities, the group did an excellent job! The construction leader was always attentive to the work with the group and the Bolivian builders, she did a very good job also guiding the group in the construction phase.

2.2    Tasks to be done
I need to work on a construction system that allows the fluid work of the people who are in wheelchairs, we already talked something with the leader of the group Willem Jan and I think that the next unlimited project we will change a bit the construction system.

3.    FACILITATION OF THE TEAM
3.1    Children Program
Wonderful work, the leader and the participants had to adapt quickly to work with children with different types of different abilities (down syndrome, wheelchairs, mental deficiency, etc.) and in the end the children and teachers loved the daily work with them. Very good work!

3.2    Cultural and touristic outings
The opportunities we had to interact with the community was very nice, from sharing food, music and dances the group was always willing to enjoy this time, from the first day they received us with music and dances where the majority of the group participated very happily. The time we made the tourist trips to Samaipata and the surroundings of El Torno, was wonderful, also the attention and help that they gave to people who were in a wheelchair was very good although challenging.

4.4    Beneficiaries
The beneficiaries of this project being a new school are children from different areas of El Torno, but the children of El Paradiso neighborhood were always attentive to any opportunity to interact with the group of participants.
