Distribution of maize seed to farmers
As rains are drawing closer seeds have been distributed to 62 farmers who are representing the 62 families benefiting from the programme. The farmers are expected to plant the maize seed as soon as the rains start. The Agriculture Extension Development Officers will be assisting the farmers with expertise on how to follow the conservation methods of farming.

Progress on toilets and farmer training
During the visit a lot of progress had been made on the three toilets. roofing has been done and they were working on fixing of the doors.
The training of farmers also took place and went on very well. The training objective was to equip farmers with knowledge and skills on moisture conservation and also to enable farmers to maximize production per unit area. 61 families received training in conservation methods of farming. Some of the topics covered were marker and box ridges construction, Mixed cropping and agro-forestry.
Work continued at Kandezu
During the visit to Kandezu the workers were actually busy on the construction work on the toilet blocks (3) to be done. The bench/desk combinations were present in the classroom, and the teacher house was worked on. The challenge in the community at this stage was the lack of burnt bricks. They have made new plans for preparing enough bricks for the remaining works to be done (toilet and school feeding shelter). Within 2 weeks the community expects to have the toilets finished after which they will continue with the work on the feeding shelter. We hope to see this finished by the end of the year.
