‘Hoe kijkt coördinator Moffat Zulu terug op het project?’

De partner vertelt... van 7 oktober 2019 door Moffat Zulu

Elk jaar vragen we onze partner hoe het project is gegaan en welke lessen de partner heeft geleerd.

Context and summary

Describe the original plan/idea for the project. Has the project been executed as planned?
Our plans have been achieved because we did what was in the plan

Give a (short) general description of the implementation of the project.
There was full participation from all meaningful stakeholders from children to the elderly ones and that led to the successful completion

How do you look back on the following topics? How was it arranged, what went well, what could be done better?

Construction

Buildings worked on
1x2 Classroom Block

Tasks to be done
The remaining work for the community to do was Beam filling, Flooring, making drainage finishing in the door , making Chalk boards, Painting, fitting Door shutters, fitting glass panes, and cleaning

Programs

Children program
It was sooo good

Cultural and touristic outings
Sleep overs, home visits, attending local Church services and safari were so amazing

Life Skills program and Football for Water
Life skills was a challenge because some days students were coming very late for the program. Football and netball were so interactive and funny

Cooperation and involvement

Leadership team World Servants
The leadership team was great friendly and tolerant

Local leaders / key persons
Even if sometimes we had few people from villages but at least we had few leaders providing materials and leadership

Community
Generally the community was good though they still need lots of community sensitisation on important things which when they get involved it will bring much change in areas of development

Beneficiaries
We were impressed especially with the participation of big boys and girls at project, meaning that they also saw the need of a classroom block hence they felt good to be part of school development.

(Local) authorities
Local authorities were also involved we had civil leader who came at welcoming and farewell ceremonies. The chiefs representative was there to give support to the locals and participants

Facilitation of the team

Accommodation
Very good

Food
Very good

Transportation
Transport from Lusaka to Donje was excellent, on site we also had had transport nearby for in cases of emergency, But though we had little delays on the way to the national park because we had to switch from a small bus to a bigger bus. We were a little bit worried about how to get from the park to Lusaka but to our surprise we used the same bus the next day until we reached Lusaka, it took more hours of travelling from the Park to Lusaka by almost an hour than normal 10hrs. We were excited to reach to Lusaka safely.

Safety
Generally good

Lessons learned
Many children and community members sometimes they lack lessons and people who can inform them about necessary things such as community self help programs, investment in the children through education. Now seeing the Dutch participants doing different activities this was like an eye opener to the community. We thank the team for coming up with so innovative programs
