Elk jaar vragen we onze partner hoe het project is gegaan en welke lessen de partner heeft geleerd.

Context and summary


Describe the original plan/idea for the project. Has the project been executed as planned?
The original idea was to start a new school in this area of El Torno, this is because there is no school in this area and it is one of the fastest growing in this community.
The lathe with more than one hundred thousand inhabitants only has 1 kindergarten in this area and is more than 4 km away from this neighborhood.
That is why it was thought to start a new school that is close to the New Life Center for disabled children, as well as to give these children the opportunity to attend regular school, being in front of each other the school buildings will help much in the integration of students with disabilities in regular education and in the acceptance of them in the community and opening greater opportunities for study and development of their lives.

Give a (short) general description of the implementation of the project.

In 2018, two classrooms and bathrooms for boys, girls and teachers were built, in 2019 two more classrooms are being built, with those four classrooms the new school can be started in 2020.

Buildings worked on
the progress with the group was very good, the participants and the construction leader did a great job

Tasks to be done

Everything was done as planned, this year we work better to have already working experience with a group of people with different abilities (disabled)

Programs

Children program
Great work, together with the Vida Nueva students, teachers and parents, was great to work together like a team!

Cultural and touristic outings
Very good weekend in Samaipata, house visit was wonderful, and share time with the elder people of the Vida Feliz Center was great too!

Life Skills program and Football for Water

We dont have this programs this project.

Leadership team World Servants
Was close to be perfect! I thing World Servants is doing a great job in the leaders selection!

Local leaders / key persons
The principal, teacher and parents of the Vida Nueva was great, the people of the elder center was very kind with us too

The community participated in a good way, in the welcome of the group we had a very good time of fellowship

The Mayor of El Torno was in the symbolic delivery of the new classrooms, there was also the Director of Human Development of the City Hall, they work very well together with Formando Vidas.

Lessons learned
We have been working in the El Torno area for more than 4 years now, and we have learned that each neighborhood or community is different, and that it is always better to work together with community leaders to strengthen and empower their leadership.
