Hoe kijkt onze partner terug op het project?

Na elk project vragen we onze partner hoe het project is gegaan en welke lessen de partner heeft geleerd. Je vindt hier het bijbehorende rapport.

1.    CONTEXT AND SUMMARY
1.1.    The original plan of the project
The original plan was to construct a school block with head teachers office in the middle, two teachers houses, girls changing room and two toilets with two holes each. The project has been executed according to plan as all the planned structures have been built.

1.2.    Implementation of the project
The community and the participants worked together side by side on the implementation of the various activities such as construction of the structure up to roofing level. The other activities such as cultural programmes and hospital visits also went on well and also the interaction between participants and the local community was equally good.

2.    CONSTRUCTION
2.1.    Buildings worked on
Before the arrival of the participants the community had already dug the pits for the toilets and elected the foundations for the school block and teacher houses. The community and participants worked together on a number of tasks such as laying of bricks, making mortar, ferrying of bricks and sand, drawing water etc. all these activities went on well hence the target was reached.

2.2.    Tasks to be done
MA218 - On school block completion of plastering, flooring, beam filling, pointing, skirting and painting. on toilet roofing, plastering, flooring and painting.
MA418 - On teachers houses completion of plastering in one house and plastering the other house, flooring, pointing, fixing window panes, skirting, beam filling and painting.

3.    FACILITATION OF THE TEAM
3.1.    Children Program
There was good attendance from the children during the activities related to children’s work program. The children also participated well in the activities through dancing, playing games and singing.

3.2.    Cultural and touristic outings
Home visits were done by both groups and they visited different homes ranging from poor families to female headed with the view of making them understand the way of life for the community. Other participants also slept over in the communities.

3.3.    Life Skills
Both groups held the life skills programme and the targeted groups were from age range of 12 to 18 years. There was good participation from both groups. The translation by Ambros one of the teachers was great.

4.    COOPERATION AND INVOLVEMENT
4.1.    Leadership team World Servants
Cooperation was very good from both groups as we were able to plan together and this helped to foster team work.

4.2.    Local leaders / key persons
They were really cooperative and they were able to help in the implementation such as identifying home visits, leading the community members through distribution of tasks. They implemented some by-laws to make sure that things went on well on the project.

4.3.    Community
The community in general was very good except that most of the times they were coming late on the construction site.

4.4.    Beneficiaries
They were involved through childrens work activities.

4.5.    (Local) authorities
They ensured that their inhabitants were always available on the construction site.

5.    PRACTICAL ARRANGEMENTS
5.1.    Accommodation
MA218- The girls occupied the 2 classrooms and the boys were accommodated in a teachers house.
MA418 - The girls occupied on classroom and the boys occupied the other classroom. The church was used as a dining room.

5.2.    Food
Food was being prepared by the CCAP chef Jenipher and Silvester. No hygiene issues were reported. The participants commended the food that it was good.

5.3.    Transportation
The other vehicles were available all the time such as the emergency vehicle and the lorry however the bus was giving some problems for example on the way to the lake we had to change the vehicles especially with MA418.

5.4.    Safety
In general safety was guaranteed and all precautions were taken.

6.    LESSONS LEARNED
When you plan together it’s a way of enhancing team work which leads to greater cooperation.
