‘Hoe kijkt coördinator Michael Tembo terug op het project?’

Elk jaar vragen we onze partner hoe het project is gegaan en welke lessen de partner heeft geleerd.

CONTEXT AND SUMMARY
*Describe the original plan/idea for the project. Has the project been executed as planned?
The original plan was to construct a 1x2 CRB and a house, but the community prefered to have a 1x3 CRB. This was already known to the team before they came to Zambia. The project went as planned.

* Give a (short) general description of the implementation of the project.
The project was a success because the community leaders, MCC leaders and Dutch team leader was in touch with each other.
Planning together was very key in working together. Implementation of the project became easier.

*How do you look back on the following topics? How was it arranged, what went well, what could be done better?
CONSTRUCTION
- Buildings worked on
1x3 CRB and finishing of teacher house
Most of the works were done with the team together. The walls was done 90%, the roof was done, the varendar was done. We only remain with bram filling, floors, painting, glazing and doors.

- Tasks to be done
CRB: Finishing the beam filling, floors, glazing, painting and foor fitting.
House: Painting, door fitting and glazing.

PROGRAMS
- Children program
Childrens program went very well participants did enjoy very much equally to the children.
Children liked it very much. This was because of good planning from participants side.

- Cultural and touristic outings
The feedback from participants was very positive. It was well arrangerd and we always sat with Richard cultural leader and always agreed what where to go.
Zambia Express was supper laka meaning very good.
Game visit was a bit disappointing because there was not much animals this year.

- Life Skills program and Football for Water
Life skills went very well. The first day we had 20 youths and the second day we had 30. Football: The game between the Dutch and Zambia went very well a lot of people attended the game.
Even though could have done better. It was not well planned because we left the program in the hand of the community alone to plan.

COOPERATION AND INVOLVEMENT
- Leadership team World Servants
The co-operation was very good. Nearly every day at the end of the day we meet and discuss how the works was done. This made things much better and because of meeting nearly every day made understanding from both sides good.

- Local leaders / key persons
Local leaders did very well this time around.
Reason was that we have new generation of leadership who have taken over community leadership.
Alex was very happy to have a successful project.

- Community
Community came in good numbers because of good leadership.

- Beneficiaries
Beneficiaries was and are still very happy. To these are children and parents as well. And both were quite involved.

- (Local) authorities
A good number of local authorizes did turn for the official hand over ceremony.
The Acting District commissioner, Council officials, MP, officials from the Chief, Some Commencial farmers all these people came.

FACILITATION OF THE TEAM
- Accommodation
The team was well facilitated. For the windows we did put buglarbars and curtains even though the floor was not smooth.
Mattress was provided even though some mattresses are now old especially the first mattresses which were bought sometimes back.

- Food
Food always had been lakalaka. Bread, meat balls 👍💪.

- Transportation
The transporting of the participants was was ok. Because it was too tight in the bus we did put two of participants in my car which worked well.

- Safety
Our travelling was very safe even around Mkushi it was very safe.
As a leader I tried put much emphasis on it now and then.
At one point the driver was using a phone when he was driving, I talked to him immediately.

LESSONS LEARNED
* Describe the lessons learned by the partner organization in organizing the project within this community. Were there any struggles, unexpected challenges, etc. How did you solve this?
To say the truth we we did not have much challenges which were difficult.

* Feedback for World Servants to improve future projects
Team leader need to be in touch with both teams local and the participants.
This bring both teams together.
Always to consult us before doing anything .
Communication does unite the both teams from both sides.
