A new update from Lilanda

Project update van 4 december 2019 door Michael Tembo

Lilanda is working hard to finish the classroom block and teacher house before school starts again in January

The classroom block and teachers house in Lilanda are almost finished, only 5% to full completion. Both for the classroom and house we only remain with drainage, last coat of paint, a few windwos and all doors. The people of Lilanda have worked very hard despite challenges in their personal life. At this moment there are high levels of poverty in Zambia. Last rainy season we had not enough rains and the government is trying to distribute food to hunger stricken areas. People have to go looking for food , do their own work and community work. Next to that they help finishing the school. The community has done so well. In two weeks time the work will be fully completed.

The desks for the newly build classrooms are worked on in the workshop at Burton Young right now and should be ready in January.

We did not yet start with the water pump. This year the national water policy changed, therefore it takes more time to get the official permission to dig a borehole. The application has been already submitted waiting for authorization from the provincial offices.

The schoolgarden in Lilanda will start once the school is finished and the rains start.
